Asham
Asham is a cooper (barrel-maker) living in Kendall Keep at Location 7f.
Description
Once a capable craftsman and loving father, Asham is now described as "a shadow of what he was." He works his trade and speaks when spoken to, but the light has gone out of him. He avoids the tavern, avoids his neighbours, and has become withdrawn and isolated.
Background
Asham's daughter Arpad disappeared several months ago. The official assumption was that she ran off with a tinker, but Asham swore she would never leave without word.
Current Situation
Father Abercrombie suspects that Asham is being coerced by the Hidden Temple:
- Arpad may have been kidnapped rather than having run away
- The Temple may be holding her hostage to ensure Asham's cooperation
- Asham's withdrawal and refusal to speak may be due to guilt rather than grief
- He may have been forced to provide information or assistance to the Temple's agents
Supporting this theory:
- Mendel the scribe visited Asham after Arpad's disappearance
- Asham refused confession when Father Abercrombie offered
- His behaviour suggests someone who is trapped, not merely grieving
Location
Family Homes, Location 7f — Look for the cooper's sign (a barrel and mallet)
Relationships
Party Interactions
Father Abercrombie told the party about Asham and suggested they speak with him.
The party plans to visit Asham at the start of Session 3.
